Mentoring that sticks: designing for the second conversation
Great mentoring programmes are not built on matching. They are built on follow-up.

Every mentoring programme celebrates its first meeting. Photos are taken, introductions are made, and everyone leaves optimistic. The programmes that change lives are the ones that make the second meeting just as likely as the first.
Follow-up is the whole game
A single conversation is a nice moment. A sequence of conversations is a relationship. The difference between the two is almost never the quality of the initial match. It is whether anyone noticed that a pair stopped meeting and gently nudged them back on track.
Make the invisible visible
Give coordinators a simple view of which pairs are active, which have gone quiet, and which have quietly succeeded. That visibility is what turns a well-intentioned launch into a programme that keeps its promise all year.
